I am not a big fan of pumpkin.  In fact, I hate everything pumpkin.  I've tried a lot of pumpkin beer and they all taste...well....pumpkiny.  My wife came home with Fernie Brewing's Pumpkin Head Pumpkin brown ale so I figured, what the hell, DRINK UP!!  The smell of the pumpkin in this beer is not as pronounced as the spices.  To me that's a good thing.  Less pumpkiny the better.  ( I know pumkiny isn't a word so just humor me)  The taste of the pumpkin dissipates quickly (masked a little by the malt) then the cinnamon and nutmeg take over leaving a nice finish.  This beer is really smooth and I love the fact that the pumpkin blends really well with the spices.  Fernie Brewing Company did a really great job with this seasonal ale.
