Parallel 49 Brewing Company
Vancouver, British Columbia
Belgian Style Strong Ale
Belgian Strong Ales aren't really my cup of tea. But I will try them now and then. Maybe why I don't normally try them is because they are STRONG! Parallel 49 Brewing Company has their own version of this style of beer; It's called Vow Of Silence. From the very top I noticed that this beer has a slight sweet caramel smell to it. I don't know exactly what the smell is but one thing that I can tell you for sure is that it smells really good and you're going to like it. It's full bodied and has a thickness to its consistency. It has a really good malt taste to it which makes it a really smooth beer to drink. The crisp factor is subtle but noticeable. The finish is sharp almost like a Chimay but not totally in your face sharp (hope that makes sense). The aftertaste is slightly malty but doesn't make you want to brush your teeth right after. Enjoy this beer folks. You may even want to marinade some thinly sliced lamb with this one.

The Tin Whistle Brewing Company
Penticton, British Columbia
Double (strong) IPA
This is going to be a quick review. AND... The review below is what I and only I think of it based on what I tasted. This beer tastes like it can have a lot of different opinions ok? Ok. Let's begin shall we?
The smell of this beer has a really defined citrus aroma. The smell is intriguing. The citrus aroma is inviting. The taste is also very unique and surprising. You'd expect it to have a serious hop flavor because it's a double IPA, but it all comes down to the malt taste. It has a real deep malt taste. So much that it masks the hop aroma. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'll admit that this beer is not well balanced but I do like the taste. It has a medium finish (medium bitterness) and the aftertaste does linger longer than I would like but it's not a bad beer overall. If you like beer that is more malty than anything else, try this one.
