There's a story behind this beer.  But since the height of the Vancouver Band D.O.A was before my time, I'll just bypass that story if you don't mind.  Sorry you guys at Old Yale Brewing.  Out of all the local breweries around, there's always at least one beer that each of them brew that I don't like.  But so far every beer Old Yale has brewed has been very well crafted.  This one is among those.  Right of the hop (get it?) you can smell the dark chocolate (or light coffee flavour depending on how warm it is) with a slight caramel tone.

Some people can smell and taste chocolate.  However, for me, it was more espresso.  And remember, every taste buds are different.

It has a full body, rich taste with hints of that espresso flavour.  The taste is also very smooth and not too sharp, with a light smokey aftertaste.  The aftertaste is perfect and will really enhance your cigar experience.  There are people out there that don't like Brown Ales.  Those people really need to try this beer.  It is one that they will come back to over and over again.  Porter lovers? Try it.  It'll taste familiar.
