Off The Grid Red Lager
Hoyne Brewing Company
Victoria, British Columbia
I'm a big fan of Hoyne Brewing. They have unique flavors of beer. Out of all the ones that I've had from this brewing company, I think this one comes in second. (tops is their Down Easy) I absolutely love the picture on the bottle. I can picture myself camping in the middle of nowhere, having a fire, and drinking this beer with a fine Cuban cigar.
The aroma from this beer is subtle and not overpowering. It's the hops that they use that makes this beer smell and taste great. They use Tettnang Hops that's grown is Germany but it's also grown in some parts of the United States. It's very smooth and crisp but not as crisp as a regular lager. It has a fantastic malt taste and I can really taste a sweetness to it. It's definitely not filling and it's definitely not a typical lager. The finish is so smooth and clean and there's a slight tasty malty aftertaste. This beer you absolutely have to try. It's a great bridge between a lager and an ale.
