Burnside India Pale Ale

Burnside Brewing Company

Portland, Oregon

India Pale Ale (IPA)

Foggy Light Copper (unfiltered)

6.6% @ 84 IBUs

It's been awhile since I talked about an American Craft Beer.  So I figured why not talk about one that's brewed from the mecca of craft beer, Portland Oregon.  Just in case you're wondering, all of Burnside Brewing's beers are unfiltered.  This leaves a beer foggy but full of flavor.  This one in particular is flavorful from the start right to the end.

You don't have to dig deep to get the citrus aroma.  Smells like a freshly cut grapefruit.  I would love to make the aroma of this beer to an air freshener, that's how good it is.  It has a great malt taste that is smooth and refreshing, especially for an IPA.  It has 6 different varieties of hops making it a beer with a medium bite and heavy aftertaste.  The finish is smooth leaving you wanting more.

This is a great IPA and one that you should not miss.  It's full bodied but it won't leave you full in the stomach.  Give it a try and I'm sure that you'll go back for more.

  1. Portland IPA's always seem to deliver, it's like they are the gateway to SoCal IPA's which are very grapefruit heavy, whereas the Oregon one's tend to combine the BC/Seattle styles nicely with the SoCal grapefruit. I love the Caldera IPA and recently the Burnside Salted Caramel, will have to grab this one next time I see it.
