Persephone Brewing's American Pale Ale
Persephone Brewing Company
Gibsons, British Columbia
American Pale Ale
5.5% @ 33 IBU's
Persephone (per-sef-any) Brewing Company is a new(er) brewery that's located in one of my favorite locations within a day trip from my house. Gibsons, on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast should be very fortunate to have a brewery of this caliber located right in their own back yard. Not only do they brew great quality beer, they use British Columbia produced grains and they even grow their own hops on their 11 acre property. They've reduced their carbon footprint in a way that I'm sure that other new breweries will follow.
Their American Pale is not your average pale ale. In my opinion, it's more of a hop forward pale ale. The citrus aroma bursts out like a slap in the face. Right away the hoppyness hits you but it's not heavy at all. The bite is perfectly laid out like a well planned taste bud attack. It has a medium malt flavour that is smooth and and easy flowing. The finish also very smooth with a light - medium aftertaste.
People often bypass Pale Ales because they all taste the same and there's never any variety. Do NOT bypass this one because I know that you'll love it and change your opinion about Pale Ales. Persephone Brewing Company hit it out of the ball park on this one. Now, my only thought is... when can I get a chance to visit their brewery. Hopefully soon.
